Nice lights. Fog and clouds hindered visibility a bit. I mostly watched and let the camera click. It was difficult to capture the dim, pulsating lights of the after-show, but now I think I somehow managed to do it.

The Milky Way glowed brightly before the mist creeping in from the lake obscured the view.

Lovely spring candy colors! Amazingly bright and confusingly colorful northern lights surprised Patvinsuo in Kurkilahti last night. It was surprisingly dark and red was visible even with the naked eye.

A meeting of the planets. This time Venus and Jupiter wandered in Pisces. The star line of the pattern can be seen in the last picture. A thin layer of clouds enhanced the brilliance of the planets.

Wondering about the planets. The biggest and the hottest meet. This couple has been a joy for many evenings already

It was wonderful! I had to gasp for breath at that crown. Here are a few shots. A timelapse was also taken, waiting for completion.

A great trio in the evening sky. The frost was getting stronger and there was a chill in the air. There was traffic down in Pielinen, the 7km long ice road was opened last week. Kolli was beautiful as always. When the evening gets dark, you can understand why so many stories and mysticism are connected to the place.

Very rarely has there been an opportunity to practice using the tracking stand. Yesterday the sky was clear, so I braved the wind and the frost and went to try what would come. Orion was handsome in the sky. The wind was freezing, the camera was shaking and swaying. Polar aiming succeeded so well that with the 200 mm lens it was difficult to take one-minute exposures. I took 8 pictures of the fog, 4 of which I passed for further processing. I stacked and processed the images in Photoshop. The pictures are cropped quite a bit. The end result was a positive surprise, how much details and colors ...

I also went to see what the comet looks like. The object was easily found using the Ursa star map and was visible to the naked eye as a dim nebula. The sky was cloudless, the moon was hidden and the lights of the cities were far away, but the aurora borealis, airglow and glitter were in the air. The weather cleared and improved until night. The frost intensified to 15 degrees. The picture shows 15 half-minute shots stacked. I aligned the frames according to the comet, which was moving quite fast.

This is probably a basic set in Lapland. The great northern lights, whose brightness was accentuated when the Moon was hidden and there is no wasted light in the nearby countries. The fires stayed pretty low. On the shore of Pallasjärvi at the Punaisenhieka hut, there were several wonderers and the atmosphere was devout, the lake was calm, the silence and darkness almost perfect.

The Milky Way could be seen nicely in Pokkaniemi of Suomunjärvi in Patvinsuo. There was no tripod on the trip, but we managed with driftwood and a backpack. There were more people in traffic than usual. When it got dark, the travelers quieted down in their tents, only Kuika's mournful wailing could be heard on the lake.

In the hope of star flights, I was on the shore of Lake Suomunjärvi with my camera. For an unnecessarily long time, I initially wondered about the strange traveler in the sky before I realized that this clear and silent, strangely moving fog/gas cloud surrounded by a steadily advancing plane seems to be someone other than an ordinary satellite or airplane. The camera was filming the series elsewhere, I turned the direction and was able to record the rest of the flight. It quickly became clear from the Sky Watcher that it was a rocket launch. The Perseid catch remained thin, but this was a spec...

Wondering the August night in Pielinen. The illuminating night clouds were gentle and gesturing in the evening, expanded, brightened and took shape as the morning dawned.

At eight in the evening, my girl and I watched the bright northern lights from the car window despite the glow of the street lamps. At first I thought I would skip photography this time, but I still left at night after one with the camera in a nearby field. Northern lights would spread from the sky in every direction. In the end, there was a really strong throbbing in the fire, it was best to watch it on the ground.

Nice replay in the landscapes of Koli. While walking to the destination, I tested the camera settings, and that’s where the SAR arc was revealed. Mostly visible was a soft hazy gauze as well as an arch that brightened a few times. The lights were quite high, but the movement was calm. A blue spot in the sky comes from the hotel lights. Nothing the best place to bring is not to describe the night sky phenomena but good for winter feeling :)

A delicate pearl after sunset. No pearl colors were displayed this time. It was nice to ski in those colors from Niilanpää to Kiilopää.

What a wonderful starry night. The Milky Way was visible almost bright, the planets low on the forest. The loons cried, the pond steamed, the cold crept under the summer coat. Panorama of six images. One minute exposure with tracking.
