Half-sky auroras

1.12.2021 at 22.00 - 01.30 - Valtimo (IV)
Eero Karvinen

Simply a magnificent sub storm all at once. The main picture shows the red flame sea of the sub-storm expansion phase and below the images in the order of the sub-storm from its expansion. In the last picture, the pulsating northern lights created by the Chorus waves in the morning hours.

Pretty little northern lights show in a situation where there was a lot of plasma and Bz bounced properly to the minus. One substorm was seen, but another, the development of the morning night, was lost as a pseudo breakup and energy was lost in it. This event provided for the brightening of the arch stretched south without it spreading south and north. Pictures below. The third image below shows a false start. One small lunar halo also fit.

Aurora rays

21.11.2021 at 22.00 - 23.00 - Rautavaara (III)
Eero Karvinen

A small downstorm in the late evening hours photographed down the river. The solar wind was quite awesome in terms of speed, but the z-component of the magnetic field was only marginally negative and low northern lights remained far north. The full moon created its own world of light in the landscape.

Airglow clearly visible

8.11.2021 at 22.00 - 01.00 - Nurmes (IV)
Eero Karvinen

Awesome air glow tracks during repo use. The tracks were visible almost throughout the filming, but they stood out best between 10pm and 6pm. In the pictures, the air glow appears as reddish streaks. Northern lights, on the other hand, are a greenish arc.

A very beautiful substorm with air glow adorned the sky in the evening. After midnight, during the recovery phase of the substorm, spotted northern lights appeared in the sky. The spots were located considerably south of the actual oval. The administrator should check the ratings correctly. The EDIT of the Sar arc itself was indicated only by the spots and the area of red emission that appeared briefly above the second spot. The glow in the air is the orange-red wavy emission that appears in the images in the early part. It is mainly caused by atoms and molecules excited by sunlight that retur...

The northern lights and the halo of the moon were able to delight comfortably in the early evening. As the moon moved higher, the northern lights also ceased. The pictures were taken from the shore of the lake and used a big 100. The northern lights were bright at this point and the green color was seen racing with the halo of the moon.

One halo form

Moon halos with northern lights at the same time. Only the 22nd degree ring was easily identifiable in the upper clouds. Images are not in chronological order.

Half-sky auroras

12.10.2021 at 20.00 - 00.00 - Valtimo (IV)
Eero Karvinen

The sky cleared suddenly and the diffuse oval that had reached the height of Otava said that now we have to go. Reaching just south of the zenith, the play eventually provided a pretty sub-storm, and in the expansion phase, the dune potholes and SAR arches also stood out dimly. The vivid image has been modified to showcase the dwarfs, and in the weave image, the SAR arc dims the image from the middle stages from below toward the orbit as a dark red dim striped area.

Whether the drawing is dim or bright, but I think the set was so lazy that the mats best describe. This set did not provide any clear storm. Several oval accumulations and brightenings followed one another during the night. There were few threads. As the main color, the green emission of oxygen was 557.7 nm and in some of the images also the reddish upper part was weakly separated.

Korona's opening wind still offered a play. During the evening, one clear substorm and a few brightnesses formed. The clouds covered the sky almost exactly as the day changed. Below are a few pictures of the sub storm.

The calm storm surprised with its beauty. A series of images of the westward wave of a substorm. The brightest phase in the main image, the other images in chronological order. At the beginning of the substorm, a false start was seen, which can be characterized by the disintegration of the oval into parts and their reunion into a calm diffuse arc before brightening.

Diffuse glow

8.9.2021 at 22.00 - 23.00 - Valtimo
Eero Karvinen

Air glow and northern lights in the northern sky. The air glow formed wavy structures that were only marginally visible to the naked eye. The camera showed them much better. The streak at the top is created by a satellite or an airplane. The maintenance will check whether this is a sufficiently clear airborne observation.

A beautiful couple of storms in the morning hours. The blue rays were distinguishable even for a moment. Pink and blue coloring consist of a suitable mixture of cationic nitrogen molecule and atomic oxygen emission.

Quiet aurora arc

1.9.2021 at 00.15 - 00.30 - Valtimo (II)
Eero Karvinen

A small but pretty substorm in a very modest solar wind situation. The purple emission of nitrogen stood out nicely towards the end of the sub-storm. Meanwhile, several star flights flew in the sky, one of which remained in the number one image.

Very distant illuminating night clouds in the midst of northern lights photography. The area was small and barely visible to my own eyes. The picture on the left also shows faint northern lights from the end of the storm. EDIT after adding original images

Quiet aurora band

30.8.2021 at 01.00 - 03.30 - Valtimo (II)
Eero Karvinen

The night provided a decent storm with moderately modest solar wind characteristics. Most of the time there was only a dim pink / green arc in the sky, mostly camera-separable, but after the storm started for a few minutes, the play was beautiful. Cloudiness interfered with filming. At times the green oxygen emission was even moderately bright, but as a whole I marked this as a dim play.

At least 5 lightning strikes seen

17.8.2021 at 02.00 - 03.00 - Porvoo (II)
Eero Karvinen

Trailers of a cell born above the sea as seen from Emäsalo. The sky rarely flashed with the earth's flashes in the distance. Only a few cloud flashes made a sound while the rain was still up. In the picture, the ground flash illuminates the clouds. The channel itself is overexposed.

Clearly visible night shining clouds

11.8.2021 at 00.00 - 01.20 - Lahti (III)
Eero Karvinen

After midnight, the illuminating night clouds began to stand out clearly in the far north. At its brightest, the show was around 00:15, after which the night clouds dimmed quickly. Sometimes at two o'clock the lower clouds came to the fore, so there is no observation in the morning. The interval between the first and second images may be about 20 min, but during this time, due to the location of the sun, the glow was already really down on the horizon.
