5.12.2021 at 05.44 - 06.15 - Varkaus (II)
Veli-Pekka Hentunen, Warkauden Kassiopeia

I photographed a C / 2019 L3 (Atlas) comet from the morning sky with the Härkämäki Observatory's Celestron 14 "telescope and SBIG ST-8XME camera. I used a photometric R-filter and 120 s exposures. The picture is a sum of 15 pictures.

5.12.2021 at 04.27 - 05.01 - Hankasalmi, Murtoinen (III)
Harri Kiiskinen, Jyväskylän Sirius

I photographed a calmly moving comet 67P in the morning. Quite a spectacular comet. The tail has a much larger size than the image can hold. Light curve: COBS. SI

Light pillars

4.12.2021 at 18.30 - 20.05 - Turku (II)
Markku Sirén, Ursa (Länsi-Suomi)

We visited the Light Path light art works made by the City of Turku. I grabbed a picture of Vartiovuorenmäki's Blue Atmosphere work in the market square and noticed the artificial light pillars in the background. On the way home a little later I went around through a small hook and grabbed a couple of pictures from Majakkaranta in the direction of Hirvensalo and the harbor.

Artificial light pillars below Ottawa. There was nice ice in the directions of Rusko and Masku. The pillars were kind of pretty diffuse, but they were widely seen a little there in the sun here.

Binocular comet Leonard

3.12.2021 at 06.03 - 08.20 - Fregenal de la Sierra, Espanja (III)
Tapio Lahtinen, Tampereen Ursa

Comet Leonard swept the spherical constellation M3 from the morning so I programmed a Spanish tube to describe it. Describing such a combination poses certain challenges for processing. Here are at least a couple of versions of the topic at first. Image 1 3 x 45s RGB image Image 2 90 x 45s RGB image with median stack of faded stars (except M3 still waving in the background) 3. Stack of green channel treated with Larson-Sekanina filter. 4. Animation (it is hoped that it will be displayed properly ...) The brightness of the comet is mag 7 (green channel) and the length of the tail is of the orde...

The northern lights values were moderately high but there may be plenty of clouds in the sky but somehow I got some kind of northern lights described.

Light pillars

3.12.2021 at 20.00 - 21.10 - Turku (II)
Mikko Peussa, Ursa (Länsi-Suomi)

Ice crystal was in large areas in the air, but filming locations were poorly found this time around. However, the season became open for artificial light pillars. It would be better to describe these at night when there are fewer people on the move.

Active aurora band

3.12.2021 at 19.00 - 22.30 - Salla (III)
Dennis Lehtonen

There was again an atmosphere of four hours standing in the snow. The first repos could be seen sometime around 5 pm, but I didn't go anywhere before 7 pm. There is a snowmobile route 1 km south of the center of Salla. Of course, not the best area in terms of light pollution, but a short distance and just fine snowy trees in the swamp area. The lights were quite bright but mostly stable. Of course, there was a lot of movement from time to time. The frost meter showed -24 when he got home. Predict even -38 for tomorrow.

Quiet aurora band

2.12.2021 at 22.40 - 01.00 - Pukkila (II)
Atte Ahola

We headed to a familiar place for fear of the clouds because the northern lights looked good. We arrived at the place of use at ten surfaces, when a dim arc was already visible. Less than an hour and an arc began to strengthen and then life clearly in front of the eyes. Again, I was excited to see the northern lights for the first time. Every time just as exciting when you don’t know what kind of show you see. Unfortunately, light pollution spoiled the experience a bit and in the pictures it bothers itself quite a bit. But I am satisfied; that I even got pictures like this. Apparently, the cam...
